NADSN & LGBT+ NoN
1st Joint National Intersectionality Conference

Unearthing the hidden voices: intersectionalities in higher education

Overview

For the first time, the National Association of Disabled Staff Networks (NADSN) and the LGBT+ Network of Networks in Higher Education (LGBT+ NoN) came together to host a joint national conference exploring the intersection of disability, sexuality, gender identity, and other identities.

Supported by The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, the event created space for shared learning, dialogue, and reflection on intersectionality in higher education. Here, you can access materials, resources, and presentations from the conference.

None of us lives with a single identity, and there is tremendous overlap between the work of both NADSN and LGBT+ NoN. This conference was created to promote equity and understand how multiple forms of discrimination can impact an individual.

Staff, researchers, and advocates gathered to examine the overlapping realities of disabled and LGBT+ staff and explore how intersecting identities shape experiences in the workplace and beyond.

Through keynote sessions, workshops, and collaborative discussions, the day highlighted both the challenges and opportunities of building more inclusive environments.
